The existing house is situated on the edge of the mountains in Bulgaria, a few hours from Sofia.
The client wanted to extend the house, and create a secure and warm retreat for friends and family.
The design resulted in a 'split section', with half the house set into the hillside beneath a steep roof to create a low protective night-time space, while the other half opens out to the views of the mountainside across the valley.
